A Field day programme entitled “Good agricultural and allied practices for sustainable income generation for the tribal farmers of Meghalaya” was organized at Umsawrang village, Ribhoi, Meghalaya on 6th February 2025 under the project Development of Watershed based Integrated Farming Systems (IFS) for sustainable livelihood of tribal farmers of Meghalaya under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) project. A total of 49 participants (17 males and 32 females) were participated in this field day programme. The programme was organized with the aim to sensitize the tribal farming community about the importance of integrated farming systems in achieving sustainable farming, allied activities, and market-driven approaches for enhancing the income of tribal farmers in Meghalaya. This programme was facilitated by Dr. S. Hazarika, Pr. Scientist and Head DSRE and Nodal Officer of TSP. During this programme, different Scientists (including Principal scientist) from various discipline namely, Dr. Ramesh T (Principal Scientist, Soil Science), Dr. H.D. Talang (Scientist, Fruit Science), Dr. A. Balusamy (Scientist, Environmental Science.) Dr. N. Raju Singh (Scientist, Agroforestry), Dr. S. Gojendro (Scientist, FRM) and Dr. Rahul Katiyar (Scientist, Animal Reproduction & Gynecology) had interacted with the farmers and enlightened the adoption of modern methods and techniques for practicing sustainable farming system. At the same time, critical inputs like seeds, Rose Can, etc., were also distributed to the farmers.
